DELHI: THE CITY OF HERITAGE

CHANDAN SHRAMA
Delhi is a city of  historical monuments, building and heritage. Historians unanimously accepts that the city has been destroyed several times and resurrected with new enthusiasm. Even the noted journalist and columnist Kushwant Singh accepted this fact, whose family had been associated with the development of Connought Place, the heart of the city.

Historians say that Purana Quila (old fort) is probably the oldest structure in the city. Historical evidences show its existence since the era of Mahabharata. There is a plaque inside the old fort that depict the story that how a village, known as Indrapat, was existed before the place was taken over by ASI.
The period of Mahabharata is about 3000 BC old. In a way the city Delhi is at least 5000 year old.
Raja Deen Dayal, an eminent artist and photographer during the British era has made beautiful landscape of the city. His work is a memorable work not just for Delhi but other areas too. Those, who are interested in the city, must go through his artistic works. Delhi meri shaan, beyond doubt.
